From Spark to system change

A big change starts small. That is why SPARK the Movement works with a transition-oriented approach in three phases. Step by step, we are developing an education system in which learning for a sustainable society is the norm.

1. We celebrate every spark

Every initiative that promotes circularity and sustainability in education counts. SPARK the Movement celebrates all these sparks and supports them where necessary.

2. We connect sparks and stimulate projects

SPARK the Movement connects educational institutions, businesses, and governments so that they can collaborate on projects that contribute to a circular economy and sustainable society.

3. We aim for structural change in the region

The transition to a circular economy requires an education system that trains young professionals to become 'experts in transition'. SPARK the Movement facilitates educational organizations and governments in creating a network that promotes this transition, driven by a collective interest.

In practice

It happens at school

For SPARK the Movement, school is always the starting point. From elementary school to university: at every school, a spark can lead to a wildfire. That's how we approach it.

Many schools are already focusing on creating a beautiful, safe, green, and healthy world. From (themed) lessons to larger projects. All these sparks deserve to be seen! That is why we are asking teachers to add sparks to our hall of fame. This will create a fantastic overview of everything that is already happening in the region.

From spark to flame

To strengthen the movement, the SPARK team supports the school in fueling the spark. We also connect the school with regional partners such as entrepreneurs, policymakers, or other educational organizations. This way, the spark becomes a strong flame.

From flame to wildfire

The next step: a wildfire. How can a school embed learning for a circular economy and a sustainable society in its education and in its mission and vision?

SPARK the Movement encourages schools and partners to think about this together. So that they, together, learn to find solutions to the social, ecological, and economic issues of our time.
